Rep. Jeannette Rankin, First Woman in Congress

By the turn of the 20th Century, change was upon this nation, as thousands of women were thrust into the spotlight, fighting for the right to vote. Time and time again, they were denied this simple right and were thought less of but many were able to make an impact, changing America for the better. Jeannette Rankin, a suffragist, pacifist, and trailblazer, erupted from the shadows as she broke countless barriers for women's rights, pacifism, and women representation in the government. Her impact on new legislation and her influence over social change paved the way for a better and brighter America.
